Service Description
Tired of walking through puddles in your yard, or simply ready to bring some much needed color and dimension? Rain gardens not only look amazing but serve as a refuge and food source for native critters and act as a machine of balance along the water-table providing less stress and ease on nearby creeks by mitigating flooding. A Rain garden is an area or catchment zone designed to catch water as it flows from rain. Typically lawns i.e. grass/sod do not have the best root systems for holding and absorbing water so it pools up and can even drown plants. Standing water can be hazardous to many types of plants as well as if there is excessive runoff this can tax the local water table causing quicker erosion and flood times. Planting specific plants in these zones with berms and swales (mounds and trenches) can catch and absorb rain and runoff letting that water absorb deeper into the soil simultaneously making your beautiful garden happy. Dry creeks can be similar but are unique as well, they’re more often dry than wet but are designed to be prepared for rain. They can catch, move, disperse and slow runoff where it is desired and are beautiful to look at dry and magical to observe during a heavy rain! Often you will see Rain Gardens and Dry Creeks designed together leading into each other. We are ready to work with you on bringing your vision to life, both design and installation. If you have any questions if this project is right for you and your property please reach out and ask!
