Watch out for these 5 common invasive plants in our area !
If you’re trying to create a healthy, thriving yard or garden full of biodiversity & good for our local wildlife, these are some to keep an eye out for 👇
🌿 Privet
Fast-growing and aggressive crowds out native plants and has very prolific berries that spread rapidly and far.

🌿 Kudzu
They call it “The vine that ate the South” for a reason… it can grow up to a foot per day and smother everything in its path.

🌿 Nandina
Looks pretty, but spreads easily, is nearly impossible to remove, and its berries in excess can be toxic to certain native birds.

🌿 Silverberry
Often planted for landscaping but quickly escapes and outcompetes native species with its long thorns.

🌿 English ivy
Climbs trees and structures, weakening them and blocking sunlight which can eventually lead to needing tree removal.

Invasive plants spread rapidly and can damage ecosystems, reduce biodiversity, and make it harder for native plants (and pollinators!) to survive.
🌱 What you can do?
• Learn to identify them
• Remove them when possible
• Replace with native plants
Small changes in your yard can make a BIG impact 🌎💚
